#13: Foreground by Grizzly Bear

One of the most beautiful closers to an album i've ever heard. What I love about this song is that on an album as meticulously detailed as Veckatimest, with its layered harmonies and baroque arrangements, Grizzly Bear chose to end off with a song as stark as this. Centred around Ed Droste’s vocal, which is accompanied by beautifully simple piano and bass clarinet parts, Foreground distilled and showcased what is probably the band’s best gift – that distinct knack for a melody. And that choir part at the end might just have been the perfect way to close an album as divinely good as this was.
