Sigur Ros - Vaka

This might be my favourite Sigur Ros song.

I was reading a review of the Heima DVD and I realised some critics just don't understand Sigur Ros's music and visual styles, some calling it pretentious or self regarding. But they just don't see it the way people who like them see it. In my opinion, Sigur Ros are one of the few bands who can consistently produce moments of complete and utter beauty.

And their videos.. the first one is the actual music video for Vaka, i was just speechless the first time i watched it, it left me in both admiration and sadness. The second's from Heima, which is a documentary about their exploits in their home of Iceland. Like alot of their videos, it puts their music against the backdrop of Iceland's amazing landscapes: rock outcrops, waterfalls and grassfield plains. It sounds abit like a tourism ad but it fits so well and the feelings conjured when watching and listening is great. Someone said you could watch a Planet Earth dvd muted and with Sigur Ros playing at the same time. I just might try that.
