Their website talks about the album as 'some of the most joyous music the band has ever recorded' and Gobbledigook certainly agrees with that (so do the naked people i guess) They go on to say the album was inspired by live, acoustic performances and it 'glows with the perfect imperfection of live takes, the sounds of fingers playing guitar strings, cracked notes'. Alot of what I love about Sigur Ros is about the reverb, the feedback, the ethereal, epic qualities of their music, but it looks like they've taken another direction. That said, many a great album have taken this lo-fi, capturing a moment, sort of approach, and after all, they are Sigur Ros. Geniuses at work. Roll on June 23 then.
