On September 29, Shout! Factory releases Ciao My Shining Star: The Songs of Mark Mulcahy, a collection of covers contributed by his fellow musicians to help one of their own out. Mulcahy fronted the band Miracle Legion in the 80s, before forming the band Polaris which provided the music for the TV series The Adventures of Pete & Pete. However, his wife died unfortunately last year, leaving him with his three year old twin daughters. I guess this album will be aimed at helping give him the resources to take care of them and to continue making the music he loves.. which is actually pretty heartwarming.Heading the tribute covers is a mouthwatering list of musical luminaries: Thom Yorke, Michael Stipe, Frank Black, The National and a certain band called Unbelievable Truth, headed by none other than Thom's younger brother Andy.
