Some figures put this as the best selling jazz record of all time, and it isn't hard to see why. Critics called it revolutionary, some call it the definitive jazz album, and amongst the greatest of any genre. I love how the compositions seem to have a subtle, fixed structure while you hear the musicians improvise and venture out into different directions before returning together. I also like how there are certain motifs that seem to repeat in different parts, gives the songs almost a haunting feeling, for need of a better word.
However above any technical stuff, this is special because of its feel, its sound and the sense of discovery as you listen, for me anyway.
