Hercules and Love Affair - Blind

The most danceable song i've heard in quite a while. On a record that, as far as I've listened to, is both fun and disarmingly catchy, yet with such subtle and artful touches that seduce a second listen. Hercules and Love Affair (basically one Andy Butler and a variety of guest vocalists) harkens back to the days of classic house and disco, eras of which were way before I was born, and manages to make what was old seem fresh and brand new to people like me.

Blind must be one of the catchiest dance tracks of the year, what with that beat and the horns in the bridge (!), but its the vocals of Antony Hegarty (of Antony and The Johnsons) that add a touch of soulfulness that just doesn't appear often enough in this genre. His voice evokes the image of a melancholy goddess in a Greek tragedy. This record is on LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy's record label after all, no surprise that its gotten so big then.
